WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Basic Life Support & First Aid
According to the General Safety Regulation 3 (4) Act employers must ensure that, as soon as 10 employees and one for every group of 50 thereafter, are trained to apply emergency first aid. Shift work and separate workplaces should be taken into account when applying this ratio to the number of persons to be trained.
Safety and Health Representatives
According to Section 17 of the OHSACT, employers must appoint and have trained one (1) employee as a Health and Safety Representative when 20 employees and one for every 50 thereafter (100 – shops and offices). Fire Prevention and Firefighting
Fire in the workplace can totally destroy your building/premises and bring business to a standstill resulting in huge financial losses. But above else, people are killed by fires and the life of a person cannot be replaced.
Employers must, according to Section 8 of the OHSACT provide and maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
In order to ensure the continuation of business and the lives of employees it is important to have employees trained in fire prevention methods and, in the event of a fire how to extinguish it as soon as possible before the fire gets out of control and destroys property/claim lives.
